About me

Art, animals and a pretty cozy life

Hi! I’m the person behind Namiline – a single mum, an artist and, if I do say so myself, a bit of an animal nerd.

I live on the west coast of Sweden with my wonderful son, four cats and five guinea pigs. So yes, there are quite a lot of animals in my life. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m a quiet, home-loving person who feels happiest when I’m at home creating. I love cosy things, I adore autumn, and I can very easily get caught up in details, colours or some completely random little fact that I suddenly feel the need to know everything about.

That’s probably quite typical of me.

A Love of Animals & Drawing

I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. Over the years, my art has come and gone in different periods of my life, but there is one thing I have always found my way back to: animals.

Perhaps that isn’t too surprising. My dad also painted animals when he was younger, and I still have a few of his drawings framed at home. There aren’t many left, which makes the ones I have all the more special to me. Being able to carry a little of that creativity forward through my own art means a lot to me.

My own artistic journey has grown through many different interests and experiences. But somewhere along the way, it became clear that animals were what I always wanted to return to.

There is something about their expressions, personalities and little details that continues to fascinate me.

More Than Just Animals

Although animals have become the main focus of my art, I’ve always had many different creative interests.

I have a long-standing connection with the world of manga and anime, and I have also studied in both Japan and England. Those experiences have stayed with me and influenced the way I look at art, details and storytelling.

Even though my focus today is mainly on animals and nature, all of these experiences are still part of who I am and the way I approach creating.

I Like to Go Down the Rabbit Hole

Once something catches my interest, I find it rather difficult to let it go.

It might be an animal’s anatomy, the way light falls across fur, why one particular colour works better than another, or which paper and medium will give me the result I’m looking for.

I’m very particular about the materials I use and spend a lot of time experimenting, comparing and learning. For me, it is not only a way to create better art – it is also a big part of the joy of creating.

I work with coloured pencils and pastels as two separate techniques, choosing my materials according to the expression and feeling I want to achieve in each individual piece.

Namiline

Namiline is my dream of one day being able to make a living doing what I love.

I want to create art that feels personal and alive, where the details have room to shine and every animal can retain something of their own personality.

Whether I’m creating a personal portrait of someone’s beloved family member or capturing an animal out in nature, that is the feeling I hope to bring into my work.

So, I suppose this is me, really.

A mum. An artist. An animal lover. Someone who is happiest at home with her animals and who can spend far too long wondering which piece of paper is best.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, I’m trying to build Namiline into something that I hope will one day become my career.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a little time to get to know the person behind the art.
